Unattended Install from CD-ROM
An unattended install of Windows 2000 can be performed by booting

The procedure is as follows:
- Using Setup Manager, create and unattended answer file.
- Add a [Data] section with the following entries.
- UnattendedInstall=Yes
- MSDosInitiated=No
- AutoPartition=1
- Save as winnt.sif on floppy.
- Insert Windows 2000 CD into the CD-ROM drive.
- Insert the floppy disk into disk drive.
- In CMOS, change boot order so CD-ROM is first
- Boot up computer on Windows 2000 CD.
|
NOTE: This installation is limited to a single partition and you
cannot specify third-party drivers during Setup.
Shared Folders
To share a folder on the network, do the following:
- Open a window in either My Computer or Windows Explorer. Either one.
- Find the folder you want to share and right-click on it.
- From the pop-up menu select Sharing.
- Click the radio button for Share This Folder.
- You can either type in the Share Name or use the default. As a default, Windows 2000 will use the actual
folder name.
- Type in a comment. Comments can be very helpful but very few if anyone uses them.
- Specify a user limit if you so choose. Windows 2000 Professional allows a maximum of 10 concurrent network
connections.
- Click OK to create a shared folder.
