In this tutorial I'm going to focus on Adsense tips for optimization. I'm going to cover tips for ad position, format, color, the placement of Adsense ads and some other things. All this so you can make money with Adsense . That's what you're here for isn't it?

The tips are going to come from tests I've done as well as tests other publishers have done. Keep in mind every web site is different and every industry is different so what works specifically for me, may not work for you. You have to experiment, experiment, experiment. And you must be meticulous in your testing.

Adsense Position Tips

Middle, above the fold is the best placement for most web sites. This spot gets the most attention. If you have a long page with a lot of content, then the bottom of the content can be a good spot for an ad. Your visitor reads your text and when they come to the end, they want more resources. There's your Adsense ad offering them more resources. It ain't brain surgery.

Adsense Formats Tips

Now let's talk about Adsense ad formats. The best performing ad format is 336x280, the large rectangle. All in all, the wider formats do the best. The top three are 336x280, 300x250 (medium rectangle), and 160x600 (wide skyscraper). Once again, it's what works best for you. Don't try to wedge an Adsense ad into your site just because it's traditionally a better performer. Choose an ad that best fits your web site. Don't make your web site fit the ad.

Adsense Colors Tips

You need to make your Adsense ads blend in with the rest of your web site. Make your ads match the background of your web site. Your Adsense ads should compliment your site. They shouldn't contrast against it. Visitors have developed what is called "ad blindness". If your ads contrast with the rest of your site they will mentally block them out.

Something else you can do to decrease ad blindness is rotate your color palette. This will add some freshness to your Adsense ads and help to decrease ad blindness.
