Hello Kitty's popularity has skyrocketed. Cameron Diaz has been seen wearing a Hello Kitty necklace. Hello Kitty was born way back in 1974. Featured in a sitting pose she became an instant star. In 1977 we saw the first standing Kitty. 1984 brought us a photo series with articles. 1985 introduced us to themes, country series and a teddy bear series. It was in this teddy bear series that we first saw a "Tiny Chum". In 1988 we see the logo being used as graphic art and the Heart and Flowers series arrived in 1992.

The creation of the Japanese company Sanrio, it's logo can now been on thousands of products from vacuum cleaners to T-shirts and everything in between. While still appealing to her pre-teen fans a host of products are available for adults too. Kitty pink is showing up on such things as toasters, coffee-makers, vacuum cleaners, computers and mobile phones. Hello Kitty first appeared as a greeting card character then quickly spread to other products. T-shirts with the logo first started appearing UK in the 1990's.
